J.D. Salinger And Greek Columnist Taki Exchanged 'Hundreds Of Letters'?
Greek columnist Taki Theodoracopulos claims to have exchanged "hundreds of letters" with the recently deceased legendary author J.D. Salinger.
In an article on his website titled "My Affair With J.D. Salinger", Taki waxes on his close relationship with Salinger, imagining a movie to be made about "JD & Taki, a love story between two real men who never met."
Though the columnist says that he "cannot go into details for legal reasons," he claims to be "worried about" about the publicity that is sure to come when the correspondence is allowed to go public.
Taki doesn't give many details about his letters from Salinger, but he does mention that the author often spoke about how much he "loathed modern Britain" and "hated phonies like Christopher Hitchens, Martin Amis and, surprisingly, VS Naipaul."
Time will tell if there is substance behind Taki's claims.
